My life as an artist truly began in the late 1990s. After living in Boston, MA, all my life, I was introduced to the beautiful southwestern desert. It was an immediate love affair with rock hounding, hiking, and experiencing nature on a more profound basis. As I drank in the desert, the giant blue skies, mountains, and canyons, I was drawn to its sublime display of life and death, side by side, and the beauty of both. I am continually enraptured with the colors, textures, scents of desert blooms wafting in the warm breeze, all of which embrace my soul. Another influence is my fascination with the constructs of man and nature. Although nature will always win, the beauty of both juxtaposed in life is a constant source of inspiration.

I’ve always been intrigued by unusual gemstones, fossils, and just plain, beautiful rocks carved by the elements. These “treasures” all have endless possibilities of becoming wearable art. My creative instincts lead me to “construct” my pieces. I see designs in the air, not on paper. Intuitively, I can pull my ideas together with my metalsmithing skills. Soldering - playing with fire - watching a piece come together, I feel more like a witness than the person creating it.

In the past 20 years of showing in nationally prestigious shows from New York City to San Francisco and Santa Monica, my growth as an award winning artist has been an exciting journey every step of the way. Being invited to exhibit at the Boston Museum of Fine Art was a huge milepost for me. To return to Boston in my new career felt like the circle was completed.
